APC, the Advanced Photonics Center, was founded in 2003 on the basis of the Laser Laboratory, Department of Electronic Engineering, established in the 1970s. APC consists of “Jiangsu Center of Optical Communication Device and Technology Engineering” and “Nanjing Center of Optoelectronic Material and Device Technology Engineering”. APC runs on the basis of the national first-grade key discipline “Electronic Science and Engineering” and the provincial first-grade key discipline “Optical Engineering”, based on which there are two postdoctoral research stations.
Currently in APC there are 8 doctoral supervisors, 6 professors and 6 associate professors, including 1 Cheung Kong Scholar Professor, 1 National Distinguished Young Scientist, 1 OSA (Optical Society of America) Fellow and 3 New Century Excellent Talents from Ministry of Education. The current research interests include micro- and nano-optoelectronic functional materials, optical communication devices & integrated optics, biophotonics, new energy materials & solid state lighting devices and nonlinear optics, etc. In the past 3 years, APC has undertaken many projects, which are supported by National Defense Foundation of China, Hi-tech Research and Development Program of China, National Natural Science Foundation of China, Specialized Research Fund for the Doctoral Program of Higher Education and other enterprises. Meanwhile, APC has been honored Jiangsu Innovative Research Team, obtained over 30 patents, and published over 500 SCI-indexed papers in Journal of American Chemical Society, Optics letters, Optics Express, Small, Chemical Communications, IEEE Photonics technology letters and other famous journals.
APC have many international collaborators, including UC Berkeley, MIT, The Georgia Institute of Technology,State University of New York at Buffalo, University of Dayton, University of Arkansas and so on.
