Provincial key discipline    
Optics Engineering in Southeast University is a multidiscipline which combines Photonics, Physics and Chemistry. It is the 1st class authorized discipline for doctor's degree, which is confirmed by the State Department of China. It is one of the key disciplines to be built in “211” Project and “985” Project. There are 14 professors and 13 associate professors, among them there is one “Cheung Kong Scholar”, 2 winner of the National Nature Science Foundation for outstanding Young Scientists and 13 doctoral supervisors. Many advanced instruments are equipped for R&D in optical engineering. There are Optical Communication Devices&Technology Engineering Center of Jiangsu Province, Nanjing Optoelectronic Materials and Devices Engineering Center.   
  
During the “the Eighth Five years Plan”, “the Ninth Five years Plan” and “the Tenth Five years Plan” periods, we had completed nearly 100 research projects, including “973”Projects， “863” High Technology research projects, the National Nature Science Foundation projects, and some key projects from different Ministries and Commissions and Jiangsu province. We possess more than 100 patents, and published more than 100 papers every year.
