Electronic Science and Technology is National first-level key discipline, 
  it ranks 2nd in National Discipline Assessment of the CDGDC of Ministry of Education in 2012.
The discipline consists of 3 second-level key discipline:
    1. Physical Electronics   (National key discipline)
    2. Microelectronics & Solid State Electronics    (National key discipline)
    3. Circuits and Systems    (National key discipline)


Physical Electronics 
Physical electronics in Southeast University originates from the specialty of vacuum electronics set up in 1952. It was approved to offer PhD programs in 1981, to found post-doctoral station in 1998, and to has the positon of "Cheung Kong Scholars Programme" professorships awarded by Ministry of Education in 1999. Since 1994, it has been the key discipline of Jiangsu province. In 2005, it became one of “the Cultivating construction places for National Key Disciplines”sponsored by Jiangsu province. Physical Electronics in Southeast University is the key discipline to be built in “Project 211” and “985 Program” that is financed by the central government. In the discipline, Display Technology Engineering Research Center of Jiangsu Province, Information Display Engineering Technology Center of Jiangsu Province, Nanjing Optoelectronic Materials and Devices Engineering Center are established. Several academicians of the Chinese Academy of Sciences or Engineering, such as WEI Yu and LIU Shenggang, many famous scholars and senior engineering technologists graduated from this discipline. Now it has 14 professors and 13 associate professors, including 1 "Cheung Kong Scholars Programme" professor, 1 professor ever won the National Science Fund for Distinguished Young Scholars of China, 11 doctoral supervisors. Its advanced research equipments reach around a hundred million Yuan. Now many projects supported by “National 863 Program”, “National 973 Program”, “National Science Fund”, Ministries of China and Jiangsu province are undergoing. Physical electronics in Southeast University is characterized by its research and development on plasma display technology, optoelectronics technologies, integrated optical devices, optical communication devices, system and network technology, microwave and millimeter wave technology. It has greatly contributed to the development of economy of our nation and the local government.
Microelectronics & Solid State Electronics 
The discipline “Microelectronics & Solid State Electronics” was founded in 1958. It began to offer M.S program in 1982, Ph.D program in 1985, and post-doctoral position in 1998. The National ASIC System Engineering Technology Research Center was established in 1992, The National Laboratory of MEMS of Ministry of Education of China was established in 2001. The Discipline was appointed as the Key Discipline of Jiangsu Province in 1994,and in 2008, promoted to the National key disciplines.
  The professional leaders in this discipline are Prof.Qing-An Huang,Prof.Longxing Shi,Prof.Ming Qin and Prof.Shengli Lu,etc. Currently,there are 7 Ph.D. supervisers. The research areas include ASIC design and application, MEMS design and applications, Physics of VLSI devices, nano-material and devices. The Discipline plays an important role in the research and development of microelectronic and MEMS technology in the State RD plans. The faculty won the tens of awards offered by the Government.
  The discipline currently has 1 specially appointed professor for Chang-Jiang scholar,1 National Outstanding Youth Science Foundation, 4 talents for New-Century.The discipline currently has 10 professors and 10 associate professors.

Circuits and Systems 
This discipline is a national key discipline and a Minister of Education discipline with 3 Yangtse River Scholarship professors and more than 10 master and PhD student advisors who all studied or worked as visiting scholars abroad. It was selected as Yangtse River Scholarship Creative Team of Minister of Education in 2006 with the researching direction of “Radio and Ultra-high-speed Integrated Circuits”. The leader of this team, Professor Wang Zhigong is an IC design expert who came back from abroad. The majors of this discipline are research and development on design and testing of radio frequency, ultra-high-speed optical and electrical, very large scale high-speed digital, and biological body embedded ICs. It has a first level ICs design and testing environment, holds a leading position in the field of IC design in China, and has undertaken tens of NSFC, national 863 and other important research projects. It has established long term cooperation with more than 10 universities and institutes for research and jointly training of people. In recent 5 years, it has trained hundreds of high level specialists in the field of radio and ultra-high-speed ICs.
  The discipline of Circuits and Systems is based on National ASIC System Engineering Research Center, Applied Electronic Technology Lab and Display Technology Research Center, including system chip design, embedded system research and application, image processing and transmission, circuits and computation application system research. It has undertaken tens of NSFC, national 863 and other important research projects and has trained hundreds of high specialists in the field of Integrated Circuits and Embedded Systems.
